"Koas", short for "ko-asisten", is used to refer to the fifth and sixth year students doing their clinical rotations (clerkships), for example: "John is a koas working in Banyumas". The term "koas" is also used to refer to this period, for example: "John is completing his koas this December" or "When are you starting your koas?"

Since koas is a period of clinical rotations, students rotate between different specialization departments (called "stations", or "stase" in Indonesian), such as psychiatry, ENT, internal medicine, etc.
